Marriages
2 records exist for Lambert Bernard Bröcking and Joanna Elizabeth Depenbrock 1 year apart in the church records from Saint Otger Church located in Stadtolhn. Records are dates 4 May 1840 and 4 May 1841.

The marriage of Lambert Bernard Bröcking and Johanna Elisabeth Depenbrock. In the marriage, it states that they were married the 4 May 1841 in Stadtlohn. Lambert's father was also Lambert Bröcking, a farmer in Amloe (actually Ammeloe), a village not too far from Stadtlohn. Lambert (Jr.) was 26 yars old. The next column states that the father has given consent and the mother is dead. Johanna's father is Joann Henrich Depenbrock, also of Amloe. Johanna was 28 years old. Her father gave consent and her mother was dead.

1841 Lambert Bricking Marriage1

A Second Marriage was found in records obtained from Old St. Mary Church on 12 May 1846. Record includes the names: Lambertum Bruegging and Johanna Luetkenhoff but I believe this is our Lambert Bricking. Further baptismal/death records of children suggest that this was in fact our Lambert.

Immigration

At the age of 30 Lambert seems to have traveled alone to the the United States. He entered to the Port of New Orleans 24 November 1845 from Harve, France on the Ship Pontiac.  Was he leaving his native land with dreams of a life new world?  Was he traveling to establish a new home for his wife and child?   Where was his son (John Lambert) and 1st wife (Joanna Depenbrock)?

Lambert Bruking immigration records were found on the New Orleans passenger list, 1820-1945 and New Orleans, Passenger List Quarterly Abstracts, 1820-1875.

Military
Lambert served in the 1st Independent Battery, Ohio Volunteer Light Artillery as a Private. Entered service 21 Feb. 1865 and mustered out on 26 June 1865. In the later part of March 1865 the First Ohio Independent Battery was ordered down to Harper's Ferry. While there they learned of General Lee’s surrender and the fall of Richmond. They then reported to Washington and reached the city the day before President Lincoln was assassinated (15 April, 1865). According to Ohio in the War when the Battery marched up Pennsylvania Avenue, Mr. Lincoln was coming down in his carriage, stopped and held a short conversation with “the boys.” After performing duty at Fort Meigs and Washington near the capitol the First Battery was ordered to Columbus where they were mustered out of service on 26 June 1865.
