Who was William Flinn/Flynn?
Little is known about William Flynn and his future wife Bridget Bird. William was born in Ireland around 1820. His marriage certificate from St. Peter in Chains Church in 1852 spelled his last name as Flinn. This was a common alternative spelling of Flynn. 1860 Census Records and 1863 Civil War Draft Registration Records also spell his last name Flinn.
Immigration
The year of William’s immigration is unknown. There are dozens of William Flinn and William Flynn’s that immigrated between 1835- 1852. Boston and New York were common immigration ports at that time. Hopefully in time, more detail regarding his immigration and eventual naturalization will be clarified.
